D.J.Haulage limited is privately owned and operated by David & Suzanne Jeffery. West Melton - Canterbury based and have been operating since 1994.With this machine we can top and side trees well above the height being done. This regains good shelter and good tree stabillity.
Being on tracks we can work on hilly or soft ground and because of the 26 ton tare weight it can control tree tops to land where required. For tight spots around homes or barns we can switch to a Waratah saw grab that can cut and place tops. Slower than the saw blade but controled and less cuttings to cleanup. The Waratah saw grab is a hydraulic chain saw, which can cut up to 600mm depending on tree weight. More suited for single trunk trees.
We only use saws for topping and side trimming. enabling for a closer cut without harming the tree. Trees need leaves or needles to keep sap flowing. When a flail or shear is used it dosen't leave a smooth cut so the tree can't seal with sap. Water damage can rot the trunk and it could die. Flails are great on fine trimming but the larger the limb, the more damage it makes. Also the saws greatly reduces flying missiles containing cuttings to the base of the tree instead of your paddock.
Instead of countless contractors to complete jobs about the farm, with a number of attachements carried on board we can finish that job, Attachements are : Wide cleaning bucket, Rock bucket, Root rake, Log grabs, Boom saw, & waratah saw grab. For the large topping or siding clean up jobs we use a 12 ton log loader with a purpose built slash rake that makes easy work of it. If you have used your tractor in the past for cleanup you would know the damage it can incur. Not to say the time it takes you away from farming. We are happy to view your trees free of charge. Please note. This is not suitable for fine trimming. Transport & setup charges are standard. Min charge half day.
